Job Summary

• The Head of Business Development, Health is responsible for identifying and securing new business sales, in line with company and division targets,
• This involves working with the UK Director of Strategic Growth and team members to build a short, medium and long term pipeline of Occupational Health, Wellbeing and Assessment based opportunities across multiple client bases;
• Deal sizes will range from 50K pa to £200M pa, and the role will include managing a small team of sales managers, as well as a flexible resource base for larger deals.

Essential Job Duties


• To secure new business in line with corporate and personal targets
• To build a strongly qualified pipeline of sales Health, Wellbeing and Assessment opportunities in existing and new markets
• To generate sales opportunities for existing and new product and service lines in existing markets
• To identify and/or create new market opportunities
• To target short, medium and long term opportunities to ensure the pipeline is balanced and allows a clear line of sight to longer term growth
• To build relationships (pre-sales) with key target clients and to advise the wider business on emerging client and market needs
• To actively contribute to the sales and operational development and strategic plans based on market intelligence and understanding
• To understand key competitors to MAXIMUS / HML and to advise the wider business accordingly on competitive positioning
• To work with wider sales and business colleagues to develop high quality bidding materials to convert existing and future opportunities
• To prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations for internal and external markets
• To produce and distribute monthly and quarterly reports on sales activity as required and/or outlined in the business development plan
• To identify new markets for HML to move into, understanding how our core competencies translate into compelling customer offers
• To collaborate, as required, with the wider MAXIMUS teams in the UK and globally to introduce / develop OH, Wellbeing and Assessment propositions for the wider markets.

Education and Experience Requirements

• An excellent network of contacts and clients and a deep understanding of the wider Health sector
• Demonstrable track record in securing new business in the health sector, with values up to £50M pa
• Evidence of creating new market opportunities and / or of driving business diversification
• Demonstrated working knowledge and insight into health-related procurement – in both the public and private sector
• Analytical capability to qualify opportunities, including commercial and competitive analysis.
• Creativity to develop solutions which resonate with clients needs and goals.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain healthy business relationships across a wide variety of multi- sector clients and business partners
• Experience in the UK outsourcing market
• Knowledge and understanding of contract administration and compliance
• Excellent organisational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
