    Job Summary

    As part of the UK Engagement and Policy team, the People Engagement Manager supports the Head of Engagement and Policy by working with the MAXIMUS UK country leadership team and stakeholders across each MAXIMUS UK business to design the corporate people engagement strategy.

    MAXIMUS UK has experienced significant growth and change in past 18 months and this role will be responsible for improving the experience of nearly 4000 employees in 5 businesses across the UK, in a wide variety of specialisms.

    This individual will be an internal change leader, dedicated to creating an engaging experience throughout all stages of the employee lifecycle.

    The role is an integral part of our overall HR strategy and is key to reducing employee absence and improving retention, as well as optimising operational performance and customer satisfaction.

    Essential Job Duties

    • Lead the design of the people engagement strategty and manage the delivery and implementation of any key activities through the wider HR team and stakeholders from each business.
    • Project manage the design and roll out of a MAXIMUS UK engagement survey, as well as associated feedback and analysis reporting to people managers across the UK.
    • Develop an approach to track and monitor MAXIMUS UK engagement levels throughout the year using pulse surveys or other means of feedback as necessary.
    • Collect timely data to through focus groups, surveys, and other methodology where appropriate; evaluate and apply the data to support decisions and formulate recommendations to improve people engagement,
    • Develop an approach to monitor, measure and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of engagement activities. Use this, along with relevant people data to provide full recommendations to the wider HR team and the MAXIMUS UK leadership team make further improvements.
    • Provide guidance to enable people managers and their teams to act on survey outputs and drive improvements; provide engagement updates and champion usage of data to generate insights and create meaningful change.
    • Establish the engagement activities that work well at a local level and facilitate knowledge sharing throughout the wider MAXIMUS UK business.
    • Ensure that engagement strategies and activities are effectively communicated and promoted to achieve desired results.
    • Assume role of engagement project lead in key business change projects to ensure dialogue and communications with employees is engaging and appropriate; provide expert advice on appropriate engagement strategies
    • Represent the UK Engagement & Policy team by presenting on key engagement topics at internal business meetings and events as required
    • Work collaboratively with the wider HR team, ensuring all activities are aligned with the overall HR MAXIMUS UK strategy.
    • Build strong, credible relationships with senior stakeholders at each business to ensure that people engagement objectives are aligned with business and departmental objectives.
    • Deputise in the absence of the Head of Engagement & Policy.

    Education and Experience Requirements

    • Thrives in and can manage priorities and projects in fast paced, rapidly changing environments, with a self-motivated drive to accomplish 
    • Can demonstrate excellent two way communication skills
    • Able to build credible relationships quickly with business stakeholders of all levels and use effective collaboration skills to deliver results quickly
    • Curious and has the confidence to challenge the status quo and established thinking
    • Has a proven track record of successfully supporting and implementing employee engagement activities using a range of tools and channels including digital/social media
    • Commercially aware and able to understand, anticipate and meet immediate and medium-term business needs
    • Can build credible relationships and adapt communication with employees and stakeholders at all levels.
    • Able to champion direction set by senior management and inspire,
    • Excellent influencing skills and able to ‘walk the talk’
    • Willing to travel to meetings across the network with occasional overnight stays as required;
    • Contributes creative ideas and has a positive, engaging, upbeat and can-do attitude
    • Persistent and passionate about the importance of people engagement
    • Proficient in the use of Excel and other analytical software  
    • CIPD qualified (essential)
    • Educated to degree level (desirable)
